From small towns to big cities, one message rang clear on Tuesday, July 28 – people turned up to Protect Our Public Post Office!
The day saw members of the public who treasure the Post Office join postal workers to make their support for the unique service provided by the USPS clear. We thank everyone who joined the day’s actions.
Public alarm is growing as the threats to the US Postal Service grow, including attacks on Postal finances, privatization moves, and federal attempts to subvert vote-by-mail.
The first events were held on Sunday July 26 when Postal Heritage Day is observed, commemorating the anniversary of the founding of the US Post Office on July 26, 1775.

Rallies and press conferences in Portland, OR were organized by postal workers and supported by Portland Jobs With Justice and the Oregon Labor Federation. Des Moines, IA also organized a rally.

The day itself was marked by events taking place in more locations than we can cover.
Many groups, especially labor federations, joined the day of action in a strong show of solidarity.
We are proud to stand with the workers of the USPS and the members of the APWU in the face of repeated attempts to undermine this vital service.
